Day 16

"Imagine" by Brunch

Okay, this one is kind of cheating, since it's not the actual song that makes me cry. (Especially because it's in Korean and I don't actually understand the lyrics.) It's the soundtrack song to the final part of a 5-part animated series called "There She Is!!" by a three-person animation team called SamBakZa.

The song is permanently linked to these videos for me and that last video almost always makes me cry, or at least tear up.

You have to watch all of these to feel the impact. Don't just jump to 5. (Banner links will open in a new window.)

Whoa, We're Halfway There

...Whoa, livin' on a prayer!

Sorry, I can't help thinking of that song every time I hear or say"we're halfway there." Love Bon Jovi and Rock Band 2.

Anyhow, I'm already halfway through my 30-day posting spree! The time is kind of flying by and it really is recharging me as a blogger. It makes me feel guilty that I'm posting so much stuff without sharing any real content, so I'm looking forward to getting the writer wheels spinning again.

I do have a shameless plug though -- I'm getting ready to launch a new blog (I know, you hear this from me all the time) about professional development. It will cover the old topics of networking, resume-building, etc. and also talk about how to grow as a professional and a leader. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a contributer, please shoot me an email.

I'm looking forward to pulling this blog back in the direction of home and lifestyle, although I realize that a lot of my "lifestyle" portions are pretty geeky. What can I say, I like nerdy things.

15 more days!

Where is that music coming from?

I want to be a part of a flash mob dance.

Don't Stop the Sandman

Rock Sugar was the most up and coming 80s heavy metal rock band until an unfortunate out-at-sea gig left them stranded with only the 80s pop music for listening pleasure/torment.

20 years later, they have finally been rescued... but it seems that you "can take metal band off the deserted island, apparently you can’t take 20 years of exposure to 80’s pop out of the metal band."*

Poker Face - A Dramatic Reinterpretation

Christopher Walken's "cover" of Lady Gaga's Poker Face.

Post-It Note Tuesday

It's PINT again!!

*
*Note: Brisinger is the 3rd book in the Inheritance Cycle, a.k.a. the Eragon books. I just picked it up from the library and haven't started reading it yet, but I'm wary about it (and the not-yet-released 4th book) because "the worst book in a trilogy is the fourth." (Thanks, TV Tropes, for that quote.)

LEGO Rock Band

I can't decide this is awesome, ridiculous, or just enough of both to be really enjoyable.

The thing is, I adore Rock Band... and I adored LEGO Star Wars. But all the LEGO-fied games after LEGO Star Wars (Indiana Jones, Batman) left something to be desired. I'm starting to think they are taking this gimmick entirely too far.

Besides, "rock star" cool and "adorable parody" cool probably aren't meant to overlap... When I make my character, I want to be a rawk star, not a LEGO.

Post-It Note Tuesday

I still haven't figured out what to use the purple post-its for yet... I've only got pink, green, and yellow color-coded for things so far. =P

I'm sharing my weekend finds early this week because it's Labor Day Weekend and the LA County Fair is in town! It's only $1 admission on Sat-Mon between 10am and 1pm!

Disney-Marvel mash-up pictures

30 hilarious license plates

23 Amazing works of Origami

Free iTunes summer music playlist (30 songs) from Stanford - good till Sept 30

I'm going to the LA County Fair on Monday! Hopefully will have great pictures to share with you next week... and hopefully not much of the scary looking-at-it-will-give-you-a-heart-attack food that they love to sell at these things. What do you have going on for Labor Day Weekend?

Cleaning, Packing, Moving, Part III

I can't find my headphones! I have my iPod shuffle in one hand but the corresponding headphones are nowhere to be found. Well, at least I have my laptop, where the world's music and videos are at my fingertips. Can't work on this packing and cleaning stuff without some music!

I usually like to have something upbeat on, like alternative rock, pop/dance, or Disney music. Sometimes I like to put a Disney movie on in the background while I work; it also keeps me on schedule with timely task completion!

What kind of music do you work to?
